We bring to a close, another great year

A year full of life, and memories made
Pumpkins, turkeys, and christmas parade

How beautiful Fall and winter too

Hopes and Dreams

Isn't it interesting how our hopes and dreams
Can sometimes change into more meaningful things
To being more kind and making a difference
Not fame & fortune but having a presense

Life seems sweeter and almost like heaven
When moments are taken in, and our love is givin
We grow and we learn, it's not about us
We're part of a community, we learn to trust

We find more meaning and purpose in life
When letting go pride and not clinging to strife
Allowing the beauty of our surrounding
To breathe new life into our sometimes floundering

Isn't it interesting how sometimes life
Stretches, teaches, and helps us to thrive
If we let it, and give our best
Life can help us grow, with joy we'll be blest

Our hopes and dreams become a reality
When stepping back, seeing our prosperity
Whether big or small, we make our mark
We learn, grow and help others embark

So take in the morment, with the good and bad
Learn from it - grow, appreciate what you've had
For yours is unique, your time here on earth
With your hopes and dreams, continue to give birth

STAND TALLER

We stand taller when united and smaller when not

Liberty is sweeter; the right to have, we fought

There are some who are giants and they lead the way

Others step back and just give them the praise

Why not get in there and get involved

Try to make a difference and become evolved

There is hope for us yet, when we never forget

Our time here is short and our life is a gift

The news can be shocking and we can become numb

To our awful surroundings and the seeming lack of love

Yet if we dig deep and choose to believe

We can fight for justice and pursue our liberty

We love when it’s easy and flee when it’s hard

Angered by disappointment and often on guard

Trust levels low, respect hard to come by

Truth becomes fiction, when so many lie

Where is the hope, of a brighter new day

How far have we come, what price have we paid

When settling for less, we’ve weakened society

So caught up in ourselves and a loss of sobriety

We must press forward and strive for new life

Keep the flame burning and shine our own light

Stand for freedom and fight for the truth

Stick by each other even when it’s hard to do

What about our forefathers who paved the way

For life, liberty, happiness, our choice to claim

Why settle for less when there is so much more

In the moment

Going through the motions, just trying to survive
Knowing deep inside me, there is a better life
And If that life were part of a song
One in which each of us truly belonged
I’d like my part, my beautiful verse
To be fresh in the moment and not be rehearsed
Let me live in the moments that take my breath away
Take in the surroundings that are found in each day
Allowing all the beauty of earth, to brighten my life
The sounds of the sea, and the beautiful sky
Tress full of color, and mountain tops high

Let me live in the moment
And take it all in
Let me give of my heart sincerely
No matter the end
Let me ride each wave
And push through the pain
Finding strength from within
Yes, Let me live

To look at things in a different way
To see new insight, that brightens the day
Not settling for less

Oh Father

I wrote this poem after hearing about my friends situation. She touched my heart with her Christlike love for someone who had done everything to break them. I am grateful she is allowing me to share this on my blog, without her name of course. I am also grateful for the example she is to me. We all need the healing influence that comes from our Savior, each and every one of us need the Atonement. How blessed we are to have such infinite and undeniable love.


My mind turns to thee
As I fall to my knees
Father, please forgive me
Yet again I plead

I’ve known thy grace, I now seek thy peace
I can’t give up, I truly need relief
Lord, please help me, to be whole again
Unworthy I feel, my repentance begins

Oh Father, I need thy grace
Oh Father, I need thy peace
How can I replace
The hurt in my families face
I search, longing for relief
I need to feel thy peace
Please forgive me yet again
I really need to stop this spin
As I spiral down
Lord please help me turn around

Can I win thy trust again
Can I be that type of man
I know you need me to begin
Courage fills my soul and says I can
A change within is what I need
Daily effort and a humble plead

I can’t go on without thy strength
I can’t live in this vicious place
Inside my soul I am racked with torment
I need to stop these sins and repent
Please work with my desire to turn to thee
Give me grace and courage please
Hope renews, I feel the light slowly come back
But daily effort will keep me on track

Bound To Go Real Far

She was a little blond girl with a twinkle in her eye
The world is full of opportunities as she looked into the sky
Dreaming of her life and what she would become
The day she would marry, when she’d be in love

High School came and she couldn’t help but think
My life is just beginning as she turned to her best friend and winked
The world is out there waiting for me to reach my star
I know that I’ll be someone I’m bound to go real far

College is all she expected and harder just the same
She met a nice man and Steven was his name
Her studies keep her busy a doctor she will be
After a romantic evening Steven went down on one knee

The wedding came and she couldn’t help but think
My life is just beginning as she turned to her husband and winked
The world is out there waiting for me to reach my star
I know that I’ll be someone I’m bound to go real far

One year later Steven held a baby in his arms
Sarah was her name and she couldn’t do any harm
She looked just like her mother who she would never know
There were complications in delivery Steven had to let her go

The funeral came and Steven couldn’t help but think
Your life is just beginning as he turned to Sarah and winked
The world is out there waiting, for you to reach your star
I know that you’ll be someone you’re bound to go real far

Several years later, Sarah’s quite the young lady
Standing there waiting to receive her doctorate degree
Mother can you see me as she looks into the sky
I’m the doctor you wanted to be as a tear dropped from her eye

The graduation ended and Steven couldn’t help but think
Sarah’s life is just beginning as he turned to her and winked
Her mother really did it; she reached her one bright star
For she helped create someone special who is bound to go real far
