Thanks for the laughs, and thanks for the tears
Thanks for the love, you have shown me through the years
Through all the ups and downs, your love has stayed the same
You see the best in me and show me through love unfeigned
Thanks for the days, months and years too
Thanks for the consistency, in your goodness that shines through
Gracious and giving, is truly what you are
I am blessed beyond measure, because you are never far

Choice
A pile of papers tipped over
and in a minute it was sorted and gone
That wasn't so hard I thought
so another few minutes a different pile gone
Could sorting through my life
be as easy as this
Going through my choices
and changing the ones that don't bring bliss
One choice at a time
in each moment of the day
One pause to choose
the best possible way
Choice is a gift
what we do with it we only know
For no one else can chose
the way that we will go
So grab on to each choice
and make it your own
Stick to the choices
that will make you feel whole

Gone too soon
She opened the blinds and let the light in
Felt of the warmth and could breathe again
Emotions ran high and darkness consumed
The loss of her child, a life gone too soon
She thought she would find strength with each new day
Memories in her mind would continually play
She closed her eyes and tried to make sense of it all
But nothing could explain her terrible fall
She fell to her knees and began to pray
Father please help me, please take this pain away
A feeling of peace came over her, from head to toe
Her Father was aware of her, that much she did know
Weeks became months and months turned into years
Her feelings for her daughter were still so dear
But her pain subsided as she leaned on God
Knowing she would be with her again, helped her move on

I Love To
I love to watch the tree branches move with the wind
It makes me feel calm, peaceful and connected
I love to watch the sun set into the water
It gladdens the eyes and warms my heart
I love to feel my Savior’s love
It brightens my life and renews my hope
I love to calm my life so I can take in the good
It helps me feel clear and brings new perspective
I love to find ways to like myself again
It helps me get through the mistakes I have made
I love to come to a place of forgiveness
It propels my life forward and opens new doors
I love to let go and let God take over
It brings a perfect flow to my life
I love to release what I have no control over
It keeps me centered and grounded
I love to see the good in others
It is true love and the best I can offer
I love to live, give and let live
It is my way of finding peace with others

I find myself
I find myself searching
I find myself learning
I find myself yearning
I find myself hurting
I find myself enjoying
I find myself rejoicing
I find myself reflecting
I find myself affirming
I find myself in each of these
For much is found when searching
A lot is taught when learning
Dreams become brighter when yearning
Strength is discovered thru hurting
Hope is reclaimed when enjoying
Happiness is found in rejoicing
Depth and meaning obtained by reflecting
Self assurance embraced when affirming

Happiness
Happiness is, as simple as we make it
Can usually be found, in all we partake in
Fleeting for moments, but quickly reclaimed
Experienced in the present, with memories made
We sometimes appreciate it, when it seems far gone
We love funny memories, that make us strong
It lightens the moments, that seem so dark
Gives hope for the future, which we embark
So lighten up, take it in, and seek humor in all
For laughter is the great medicine, we need when we fall

A Snowy Morning
It was a snowy morning when Corrie awoke
Her car wouldn't start and under the hood seeped smoke
Stuck there all night, in the middle of nowhere
A truck driver stopped, offering a ride to share
With hesitancy and desperation, she accepted the ride
She didn't speak for an hour and under her jacket she did hide
The driver spoke up and said 'miss where're you going?'
'Nashville' as she opened her wallet, a picture of her kids showing
She offered him money, which he didn't take
Don't bother miss, I am headed that way
What's your name and tell me your story
He asked, but on her face he saw worry
You don't have to share, if you don't want to
It does kill time when you have someone to talk to you
I grew up in California she said, moved to Nashville last year
My kids are with my parents and without me they fear
We lost their father in Iraq, last week we got the news
They cling to me more now and I guess I cling to them too
I have been trying to find my husbands younger brother
He's the only one left in his family, last year they lost their mother
What is your name sir, and thanks for your interest in my story
Names Earl but I need to thank you for your husbands honor and glory
I'm grateful for your sacrifice and it tears me up too
Your courage to face this challenge, makes me look up to you
God gives me strength, his grace is sufficient
My children give me hope, they are so resilient
I can't replace my husbands love, but try to I must
These are precious years for them, to learn love and trust
She faded off to sleep and Earl kept on driving
Thinking of her situation and stopped himself from crying
We owe our soldiers so much and their families too
How can we repay them for all they've done and do
Closer to Nashville and just as morning broke
He nudged his new friend and she quietly awoke
We are almost to your town, where shall I drop you?
Just off the freeway in Goodlettsville, Main Street will do
My sister works across the street at that small cafe
She'll get you a good breakfast, and do you need a place to stay?
Breakfast would be great, and at the truck stop I will rest
Thank you for sharing your story, with courage you are blest
I can't thank you enough, for getting me back home
My dear I thank you, and may love never find you alone

Go Forward We Must
Take to the life
That pushes you far
You'll find you are stretched
Even beyond stars
So ready or not
You go for the gold
You put yourself out there
And instinct points where to go
Steadfast and forward
Consistent and true
Strive to be driven
Trusting you know what to do
Keep it simple
Feel what you'll feel
Never lose hope
Take time to be still
Go forward we must
Dream the big dream
Work toward the goal
Take in the light that beams

Clouds
They move and surprise
They drift and relax
You dream and escape
and forget things that tax
A moment of calm
A life far away
Clouds take on life
and even brighten the day
The majesty's clear
The sun shines through
A beauty engulfs
and takes away the blues
Whatever life's challenge
A new day is here
Stop and take it in
and the clouds start to clear
Beauty shines thru
Rebirth takes place
A feeling of peace
being centered in your space
